Williamstown Murder Mystery (Phryne Fisher)

Once again, the Honourable Miss Phryne Fisher finds herself embroiled in a mystery. Waking up unusually early one morning, she is left with a rare stretch of free time to fill after dropping off her daughters for their school-sponsored charity work at the Blind Institute. Phryne decides to visit a university professor whom she had met and admired during a previous case. Over lunch, the smitten professor invites her to dine at his home in Williamstown later that week. During a pleasant dinner with her new friend Jeoffrey, Phryne makes two disturbing discoveries: first, a discarded opium pipe in the park, and later the body of a Chinese man on the beach, whose cause of death is not apparent, but ultimately ruled a homicide. Shortly thereafter, the teenage sister-in-law of Phryne's longtime lover Lin Chung disappears from her home. The intrigue deepens when one of Jeoffrey's colleagues is murdered in front of a houseful of guests at a Chinese-themed party he is hosting, leading Phryne to wonder if the incidents are somehow related. And who is leaving threatening notes in her letterbox, warning her to "REPENT" and that "THE WAGES OF SIN IS DEATH"--?
